Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho has been SECRETLY pursuing €65m Spain midfielder

Shock reports from Spain have revealed that Chelsea have allegedly made a major offer for Atletico Madrid‘s Koke.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca [via Sport Witness], the Premier League champions have been secretly pursuing the Atleti midfielder this summer, and bids of as much as €65m (£45.7m) have been tabled for his signature.

The report claims that Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been going head-to-head over Koke, but the La Liga BBVA outfit are not looking to sell given he remains integral to Diego Simeone’s side, and his price-tag isn’t likely to fall at 23-years-old.

The news comes as a surprise, as somehow their alleged pursuit has escaped the vicious spotlight of the English and Spanish press – which calls for its authenticity to be questioned.

What’s more, with Nemanja Matic, Oscar, Cesc Fabregas, Ramires and John Obi Mikel, Chelsea have a plethora of options in the centre of the park, and an extra midfielder would certainly be an unnecessary luxury for Jose Mourinho.
