Manchester United linked with imminent move for £40m-rated pair

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is readying a move for Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen as David De Gea edges closer to a Real Madrid transfer according to the Daily Mail, who also believe the Old Trafford side will complete the signing of Barcelona star Pedro next week.

Van Gaal knows 26-year-old Dutch custodian Cillessen well from his time in charge of the Netherlands national team set-up and will be more than aware of the quality the Nijmegen-born goalie has to offer.

The Metro claim Ajax would want £17.8 million for their first-choice keeper with the Daily Mail stating that Real Madrid will offer £25 million for De Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper has just a year to run on his current contract, meaning that if United do not offload the 24-year-old this summer, they risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Cillessen helped Ajax to three successive Eredivisie titles before seeing his Amsterdam based side surrendering their grip on the domestic silverware to arch-rivals PSV Eindhoven last term.

The Daily Mail believe van Gaal will secure the capture of long term target Pedro next week, in a £22m deal, with the 28-year-old set to take part in the UEFA Super Cup final on Tuesday night before bidding farewell to the Catalan giants.

Pedro has seen his first team chances at the Nou Camp limited following the arrival last summer of Luis Suarez, the Tenerife born attacker making just 15 La Liga starts in 2014/15.
