The 21-year-old, who is currently on a season-long loan at Crystal Palace, has plenty of other ambitions outside of making it as a professional footballer, having performed very well in school and turning down a place at Harvard University before deciding to embark on a playing career with the Blues.

Bamford may not have broken into the first-team at Stamford Bridge just yet, but he already has his eye on bigger projects.

“After football, ideally I want to take Gary Lineker’s job, but we’ll see about that,” Bamford told the Guardian. “I’d love to do that, present Match of the Day. I always joke with Dad about it, saying that’s what I’ll do when I’m done. So whether I can do something that will help me towards that, I don’t know.”
