The former Chelsea midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the current leaders of the Barclays Premier League for the majority of the summer transfer window and there is reportedly an agreement in place between the two clubs and negotiations are set to continue over a few minor details according to Sky Sports.
Reports in Germany say De Bruyne is likely to undergo a medical with the Etihad Stadium outfit at some point this week and Wolfsburg’s director of sport Klaus Allofs appears to be resigned at the fact the 24-year-old will depart the Volkswagen Arena before the transfer window closes on September 1:
“He’s had an astonishing, astonishing offer from City and we can’t compete with that,” he said.
“We had to take it seriously and that is the way we react with our players and finally we decided to start negotiations with City.”
“But the deal is not already done. So hopefully we will find an end tonight or tomorrow morning,” Allofs added.
