Zlatan Ibrahimovic opens up on Arsenal rumours and claims club ‘were a bit desperate’

PSG star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed the truth about Arsenal’s interest in him, reports the Daily Star.

The 33-year-old also claimed that AC Milan were ‘desperate’ to sign him, but he only wanted to stay with the Ligue 1 champions. He previously played for the Rossoneri in between 2010, at first arriving on loan before making his move from Barcelona permanent.

“[The interest] was concrete from their side,” Ibrahimovic said, “[There was] a lot of interest but I said from the beginning that I will stay with PSG. I like it, we have a good team, my family feel good and it’s just positive with Paris and PSG. But they wanted, they wanted much.

“I know that Milan were a bit desperate.”

However, the Sweden international has denied that a move to the Emirates stadium was ever an option. The striker was linked to the Gunners on deadline day, after it was found that manager Arsene Wenger was in France.

When asked if the English side were interested, he answered: “No, so the interest that existed, I have not committed myself to.

“It is [agent] Mino [Raiola] who takes care of the pieces. When I give notice that I want something to happen I get involved. But this summer I have been resting up, I enjoyed the holiday.”

The mercurial forward scored 30 goals in 35 games for PSG last season, showing that he is still capable of playing at the top of the game despite his advancing years. With doubts over the capability of Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott to spearhead a Premier League title challenge, signing the former Inter Milan man may have been a god move from the North London outfit.
