Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has offered his support to teammate Luke Shaw and also expressed his disappointment at the club’s failure to begin their Champions League campaign with a victory.
It was a bad night for the Red Devils as they lost Shaw in the first-half following an horrific tackle from PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno and then failed to hold onto the lead given to them by Memphis Depay and crashed to defeat at the Philips Stadion.
The England international’s injury overshadowed the result as it was revealed by manager Louis van Gaal after the game that he has suffered a double fracture of the leg and is likely to miss a huge chunk of the season, placing his participation at next summer’s European Championships in serious doubt.

Mata, who missed a glorious chance to grab an equaliser in the dying stages against the defending Eredivisie champions, posted an emotional message on his official Instagram account in support of Shaw.
I go now to bed, frustrated and dissapointed about the result of the game. But soon, it will be another game and we’ll put everything to win again. That’s this sport… But now i’m very gutted for this man… That’s the @lukeshaw23 i know. You are always smiling, my friend. Keep doing that, be strong and think positive. We all want you to come back soon, we will miss you for some time, but we will still enjoy in this season with your football, Luke.
