Serie A striker and international forward tipped for Chelsea move by own manager

Napoli Lorenzo Insigne has been a rising star in Serie A, and his talent has made him a target for Chelsea, according to his own manager.

After Insigne scored the lone goal for Napoli in a 2-1 loss to Juventus this past week, the 24-year-old star’s manager Maurizio Sarri heaped on the praise and proclaimed Insigne could be a target for the Blues or Ligue 1 giants PSG in the near future.

“Insigne? There is one who could quickly find themselves at Paris St-Germain or Chelsea,” Sarri said, as reported by the Metro.

Insigne was a homegrown talent with Napoli, first joining the club’s youth outfit when he was 15. Since being promoted to the senior squad in 2009, Insigne has scored a total of 50 goals – 13 in Serie A with Napoli over the last three seasons, and another 37 in loan spells with Foggia and Pescara in the lower tiers of the Italian game.

With Italy’s Under-21 team, Insigne has managed 15 caps and scored seen goals. Since joining Italy’s national team, he has six caps and scored once.

In 2014, Insigne helped Napoli win a pair of trophies – the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia.
