Alexandre Pato Liverpool: Klopp back in the race for €25m Golden Boy

The Alexandre Pato sweepstakes has taken many twists and turns since the initial report that he was almost a lock to go to Liverpool. With the January transfer window approaching however, it looks like Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to make the move for the former Golden Boy award winner.

According to Liverpool-Kop, the Reds are in “advanced talks” to sign Pato, who is now under contract with Corinthians, ahead of the January transfer window. The source noted that in a prior interview, Corinthians Deputy director Eduardo Ferreira confirmed that Pato could be moved if an interested club would pay €25 million for him.

Though Pato has been a far cry from the scoring genius who won the Serie A title with Milan back in the day, he had a decent season on loan to Sao Paulo, scoring 10 league goals and 26 total goals during the 2015 calendar year.

Liverpool suffered an embarrassing loss to Newcastle United this past Sunday, losing 2-0 due in part to an own goal by Martin Skrtel. Injuries to the midfield and forward position have forced the team to turn veteran options to solve their scoring woes.
