Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud bagged his second of the game to hand his side a 3-2 lead over Liverpool just 10 minutes into the second half.
In an incredible game at Anfield on Wednesday night, the Gunners came out firing after the half-time interval and after having to claw their way back into the game twice, they finally took a lead.
Roberto Firmino’s brace in the opening 45 minutes had twice put Liverpool ahead, but goals from Aaron Ramsey and Giroud ensured that the two sides went into the break level.
With goals certainly the theme of the night, the French international picked up the ball in the box after some impressive work from Hector Bellerin. After an exquisite turn left marker Kolo Toure on the ground, Giroud made no mistake with the finish as he arrowed an effort past Simon Mignolet
Arsenal will be desperate to protect their lead at the top of the Premier League table, particularly with both Manchester City and Leicester City being held to goalless draws heading into the second half of their respective encounters with Everton and Tottenham.
In a game that has already had plenty of twists and turns though, it remains to be seen whether or not Arsene Wenger’s men can now hold on to their lead.
