Tottenham considering ex-Arsenal hitman; Nigerian forward eyed after FA Cup showing

According to insiders, Tottenham Hotspur could be set to make a deadline-day transfer swoop for Hull City’s Chuba Akpom.

Caught Offside‘s sources have revealed that despite seeing off Colchester United 4-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, Spurs remain keen to bring in offensive reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

The north London heavyweights remain dependent on Harry Kane—who has scored 13 goals in 23 outings in the Premier League so far this season, and while the likes of Nacer Chadli, Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min can all chip in with goals, Spurs lack an ideal like-for-like replacement for Kane.

Their situation has been compounded by an injury to Clinton N’Jie, and it remains to be seen when the summer addition will return.

As such, Spurs are sniffing around for potential cut-price recruits, and after failing to recruit the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Saido Berahino and Loic Remy, they are considering a transfer swoop for 20-year-old Akpom.

The former Arsenal product has managed only three goals in 23 Championship showings so far this season, but the Anglo-Nigerian forward has impressed with his movement and work rate.

He shone on Saturday, scoring three times as the Tigers saw off Bury FC in the FA Cup. Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be considering the youngster as a long-term investment for the Lilywhites, as well as a potential short-term fix.
