Manchester United target has move ruled out given lack of firm offer

The agent of Lazio star Felipe Anderson has insisted that his client will not be joining Manchester United as they haven’t received an offer from the club.

Having been linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer, the Brazilian has struggled to match the level of performance that he displayed last season.

Anderson has contributed just eight goals and five assists in 39 appearances in all competitions this year, and considering that he was linked with a £50m move to United, as reported by ESPN FC, it would seem nonsensical for the Premier League giants to pay such a fee.

However, it appears as though the decision could be made for them, with the player’s agent revealing that there is no plan to move to England.

“I have nothing to say about this,” Anderson’s agent Juliana Gomes told LaLazioSiamoNoi, as noted by Football Italia.

“We haven’t received any offers, there’s nothing. For anything else they should talk to us.”

The 22-year-old is still regarded as a top prospect, but his inability to perform consistently for Stefano Pioli’s side this season has raised doubts over whether or not he would be a wise investment for a club like United, particularly given the figures involved.

While Louis van Gaal has certainly prioritised building for the future during his tenure in Manchester with the signings of the likes of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial, it seems as though splashing out on Anderson would be his biggest risk yet if the interest is real and the move could be revisited in the summer.
