Liverpool willing to cut big-money flop loose in order to sign Roma starlet

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool would be willing to offload Christian Benteke in order to bring AS Roma’s Leandro Paredes to Anfield.

The Belgium striker has been a major disappointment since moving to Merseyside from Aston Villa in a big-money transfer during the summer.

Despite splashing out £32.5 million to recruit the powerful striker, Liverpool have only received seven league goals for their investment, with Benteke making 25 showings—of which only 12 have come from the start.

Benteke has become something of a peripheral figure under Jurgen Klopp, and according to the Corriere della Sera [as per Football Italia], he could soon be on his way.

The report states that the Reds are keen on signing Roma’s 21-year-old midfielder Paredes—who his currently on loan at Empoli—and would be willing to offer Benteke in order to recruit the Argentine starlet.

The Giallorossi had wanted Benteke back in the summer, but instead plumped for then-Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko.
