The PFA Player of the Year nominees were revealed earlier this afternoon, and unsurprisingly three of the players up for the award belong to Premier League leaders Leicester City.

Record-breaking striker Jamie Vardy, prolific winger Riyad Mahrez and tireless midfielder N’Golo Kante were all deservedly shortlisted for their part in Leicester’s remarkable title charge.

Homegrown Tottenham Hotspur hero Harry Kane, Arsenal assist-king Mesut Ozil and superb West Ham United signing Dimitri Payet are the other three candidates. Fair enough, right?

Well most people think so, but there were a few protestors on Twitter. Two names in particular popped up more than others when discussing which players might have been overlooked.

Manchester United fans were disgraced that goalkeeper and saviour David de Gea was not nominated, while there was also plenty of support for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

And the majority believe that Ozil, who leads the Premier League assist charts with 18, but has been pretty quiet since the turn of the year, is the player lucky to have made the cut.
