Chelsea transfer news: Antonio Conte wants to bring Manchester City striker to Stamford Bridge

The Daily Star reports that outgoing Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic is a surprise name on Antonio Conte’s transfer wish-list for Chelsea next season.

The Montenegro captain is currently on loan at Inter Milan, who have an obligation to buy him for £12m in addition to the £2m loan fee, according to the Daily Star.

But the Daily Star understands that Inter do not want to keep Jovetic beyond this summer. He has scored six goals in 22 Serie A appearances for them this campaign.

The 26-year-old struggled at City too, although his fortunes were not helped by a series of injuries, and the Daily Star claims that Conte remains a fan of the player.

Chelsea’s incoming manager twice tried to sign Jovetic for Juventus when he was at Fiorentina, whose rivalry with the Old Lady reportedly prevented the transfer.

But he might have more luck this summer. Chelsea need to reshuffle their strike force, with Loic Remy, Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato all likely to be offloaded.

The Daily Star adds that the Blues would have no problem matching Jovetic’s £90,000-per-week wages to give him a second shot at making it in the Premier League.
