Newspaper says £23.5m striker “certain” to go to Tottenham – top-class partner for Harry Kane secured

Tottenham Hotspur appear “certain” to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette ahead of several of their Premier League rivals at the end of the season, according to The Mirror.

The Mirror reports that Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton also want the Frenchman, but that the promise of Champions League football makes Spurs the hot favourites.

The Premier League title contenders have been told that the 24-year-old Lyon captain is available at the right price this summer, which The Mirror understands would be £23.5m.

Lacazette has been a prolific scorer in Ligue 1 for several seasons. He has 88 goals in 226 matches for Lyon, including 17 in 30 this campaign to help the club to second in the table.

Spurs are in desperate need of striking support for Harry Kane. They spent last summer chasing Saido Berahino before West Bromwich Albion blocked the move, The Mirror adds.

Tottenham will be eager to avoid a repeat of that scenario, and it seems that a deal for Lacazette could be achieved to boost their strike force ahead of a return to the Champions League.
