As this video shows, Alli appeared to slow down Argentine international Yacob with a well-placed fist to the midriff early in the contest, which the Argentine midfielder reacted to by barging into the youngster, who was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year trophy ahead of the match.

The two exchanged angry words in the aftermath of the incident, with Yacob literally pointing the finger at the England international.

While Alli has emerged as one of the heroes of a fine campaign for Spurs, he has demonstrated a fiery temperament, picking up seven yellow cards in the Premier League and a further three in Europe.
