Twitter: Man City and Manchester United rivals unite in praise for ‘unbelievable’ ‘new champions’

Even rivals Manchester City and Manchester United can agree on one thing, it seems, as Leicester City‘s remarkable title triumph has prompted similar sentiments in both the red and the blue halves of the city.

Stars from both clubs took to social media on January, as the Foxes’ title triumph was confirmed as Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs—Leicester’s nearest rivals in the race for the championship—tore into a two-goal lead against the Pensioners at Stamford Bridge, but as the Lilywhites lost their cool, the Blues fought back into the contest, ultimately securing a point after goals from Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard.

The Foxes’ title triumph prompted an outpouring of support from across the globe, and as proved by Bastian Schweinsteiger and Vincent Kompany, it can even get rivals singing from the same hymn sheet.

Both the United midfielder and the City skipper took to social media after the East Midlanders’ triumph was confirmed to praise Leicester for their superb achievement.

“Congratulations to the new champions of England – Leicester City,” Kompany began, writing on his @VincentKompany Twitter handle. “Respect.”

Schweinsteiger’s first campaign in England has been a major disappointment, but he still had the character to take to social media and praise the Foxes for their success.
