Atletico Madrid superstar admits he would speak to Zidane about potential Real Madrid transfer

Antoine Griezmann has admitted that if Zinedine Zidane called him up about a potential move to Real Madrid, he would speak to the Merengues coach…but only out of respect.

Real may have fallen short in the race for the Spanish title, as they were pipped to top spot by Barcelona, but they finished ahead of city rivals Atletico Madrid, in what may be a major psychological boost ahead of their Champions League showdown.

The two capital giants will go head to head on the European Cup final in Milan on March 28, with Atleti desperate to make up for their defeat at the hands of their rivals in 2014.

In Griezmann, who saw off Barcelona with a double in the quarter-finals, and was also the star man as Diego Simeone’s side dumped out Bayern Munich in the semis, they might just have the player to see off the Blancos later this month.

However, while Griezmann will surely take pleasure in helping Atleti to their first-ever Champions League title, he’s told Canal Plus that he has no interest in signing for Real…even if his legendary compatriot Zidane came a-calling.

“No, I’m good at Atletico,” Griezmann began. “First of all, Zidane would need to call me.

“I’d respond, because he’s an excellent player and a great person, but I’m good at Atletico.”

The forward proceeded to confirm that he was in discussions to extend his current deal with the Rojiblancos.

“I am in the process of extending my contract,” Griezmann confirmed, “we’re on the right tracks.”
