Manchester United confident they can land EPL hitman ahead of £25m bid despite miserable season

According to reports, Manchester United are confident they can complete a deal to sign Southampton forward Sadio Mane this summer.

The Sun report that the Red Devils are planning a £25 million offer to bring the Senegal international to Old Trafford.

United have been unconvincing in attacking areas this season; Wayne Rooney has struggled with injury, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are still learning their trade in the Premier League, while Memphis Depay has struggled to convince since moving from PSV Eindhoven in a big-money deal during the summer.

24-year-old Mane is a proven EPL operator, and offers both the pace and the versatility to make a significant difference to the Red Devils’ offensive.

The tabloid note that United are confident that they can temp Mane even though they have missed out on the Champions League and are coming off the back of a thoroughly disappointing campaign under the listless guidance of Louis van Gaal.
