Vice-president confirms Liverpool offer for left-back; Reds in transfer battle with Dortmund again

Liverpool have submitted an offer for left-back Raphael Guerreiro, Lorient vice-president Alex Hayes has claimed in the Metro.

But it appears as though the Reds face another battle with Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund to get their man.

As The Mirror reports, the Bundesliga giants recently beat Liverpool to 18-year-old striker Ousmane Dembele, and Hayes says that both clubs are now in for Guerreiro.

“For now four major foreign clubs, including Dortmund and Liverpool have made an offer,” the Metro quotes Hayes as saying.

Liverpool are in the market for a new left-back after the mistake-prone performances of Alberto Moreno this season, and the Metro claims that Klopp wants Guerreiro as a replacement.

The five-times capped Portuguese international, 22, has already made 111 appearances for Lorient since making his debut in 2013, and could now be poised for a move to a bigger club.

According to The Express, Cologne defender Jonas Hector is also a Liverpool target in the summer transfer window. Either way it seems that Moreno’s days at Anfield are numbered.
