Liverpool transfer news: Reds plotting move for EPL wideman to end Moreno misery

Posted by

Jordan Amavi may have suffered relegation in his first season in the Premier League, but the Aston Villa man is understood to be courting interest from Liverpool.

According to L’Equipe, the left-back is wanted by the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp understood to be considering the defender ahead of a potential summer move.

The German coach may well be eyeing Amavi as a potential upgrade on Alberto Moreno, with the full-back’s naivety and rawness having been exposed badly with a miserable high-profile mistake in the Europa League final.

Moreno, however, may feel somewhat harshly done by should he be usurped by a player who is coming off as miserable a season as Amavi.

The 22-year-old—who moved to Villa from OGC Nice last summer—featured just 10 times for the Villains before an anterior cruciate ligament injury ended his season early.

As such, Amavi’s reputation appears to have escaped largely unscathed from the Birmingham giants’ relegation, and his attacking prowess and improving defensive nous could make him a significant upgrade on Moreno.
