Jose Mourinho may not may have a reputation for giving playing time to young players, but even he would be hard pressed to keep Breel Embolo off the pitch if he managed to acquire the Swiss wonderkid this summer.
According to The Sun, Man United are still in the running for Breel Embolo after Swiss giants Basel turned down a £21 million bid from VfL Wolfsburg in January. Per the source, Embolo has also been linked with a possible transfer move to either Red Bull Leipzig, Tottenham Hotspur or Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 19-year-old Embolo scored 10 goals in the Swiss Super League and added another three between the Champions League and Europa League. The year before he scored 17 total goals – 10 in the league and another six in the national cup.
Last year Man United caused plenty of head scratching when they paid a small fortune for Monaco striker Anthony Martial. But the French youngster immediately proved the doubters wrong, scoring 17 goals for the Red Devils and claiming the prestigious Golden Boy award in the process.
