A 3-0 win over Slovakia means the Germans have now scored six goals and conceded none at this summer’s tournament.

The convincing victory – which came courtesy of goals from Jerome Boateng, Mario Gomez and Julian Draxler – saw the Group C winners installed as the bookies’ favourites to win the trophy, with most companies offering 7/2.

Hosts France, who edged past Ireland in the last 16, are second in the betting at 9/2, with Portugal, Spain and Belgium all around the 6/1 mark. Meanwhile, England are available at 10s, with Italy and Poland both 18/1.

Germany’s defence has been their most impressive area for most of this month, but they clicked in attack today.

Boateng’s opener was a moment of individual brilliance as the Bayern Munich star volleyed home from long range.

Julian Draxler was the best player on the pitch. The Wolfsburg man scored the third on the turn when he latched onto a Mats Hummels header in the second half.

Draxler has earlier provided an assist for Germany’s second, which was scored by Mario Gomez, who now has two goals in two starts at Euro 2016.

It wasn’t all flawless for Germany, though. Mesut Ozil failed to convert a penalty in the opening 15 minutes, after Gomez has been fouled in the box by Martin Skrtel.

Germany will play either Spain or Italy in the last eight next Saturday.
