Jurgen Klopp and many of his players were back at Melwood today as Liverpool pre-season training got underway.

Liverpool begin their pre-season, in terms of friendly matches, on Friday night when they travel to Tranmere Rovers.

And, if today’s list of training attendees is anything to go by, there could be some big players at Prenton Park for that game.

That’s because, according to the Liverpool Echo, all four of Liverpool’s 2016 signings reported for training this weekend – Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Loris Karius.

The Echo also report that three returning loanees took park – Mario Balotelli, Lazar Markovic and Luis Alberto – as well as Mamadou Sakho, who is still facing the threat of a UEFA ban for alleged doping.

Danny Ings and Joe Gomez, who managed just three and five Premier League starts respectively in their first Reds season as they battled injury issues, trained too, as did fellow first-teamers Alberto Moreno, Jon Flanagan, Lucas Leiva and Roberto Firmino.

The players involved in Euro 2016 and Copa America were all absent.

After playing Tranmere on Friday, Klopp’s Liverpool visit Fleetwood Town (July 13), Wigan Athletic (July 17) and Huddersfield Town (July 20), before jetting off to America to face Chelsea (Pasadena, July 27), AC Milan (Santa Clara, July 30) and Roma (Saint Louis, August 1).

The Reds then take on La Liga champions Barcelona at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 6. Less than 24 hours later, they visit Mainz in Germany.
