Man United star in doubt for Euro 2016 Semi-Finals

Germany may have won the battle against Italy for a spot in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, but they appear to have suffered major losses in the process.

According to the Metro, Manchester United and Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is a doubt for the Semi-Final match against host nation France.

Schweinsteiger scored the second goal in Germany’s 2-0 win over Ukraine in the Group Stage. However, he was one of several players to miss a spot kick in the penalty shootout that led to Germany’s first-ever Euro victory over Italy.

The 31-year-old midfielder will be joined on the sidelines with Mario Gomez, who has been ruled out of the remainder of Euro 2016. Midfielder Sami Khedira is also expected to miss the match against France.

Germany have conceded only one goal in the tournament so far, and only on a late penalty in the second-half against Italy.

Schweinsteiger made just 18 appearances for Man United this past season – his first with the club – and scored only one goal for the team.
