Manchester United’s newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic joined United last week on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain and has previously enjoyed spells at Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan as well as PSG.

Mourinho previously worked with Ibrahimovic while managing Inter however, the Swedish international left prior to the Italian side lifting the UEFA Champions League.

The Portuguese tactician told MUTV (via Daily Mail) about the advantages of signing a player with Ibrahimovic’s experience.

‘Zlatan is Zlatan. He wins year after year. His records are absolutely amazing. His passion for the game is incredible,” Mourinho stated.

“A man of his age, with his CV, to come for the biggest challenge of his career at the biggest club he has ever played for and the most difficult competition he has played in. He’s an amazing player.”

The 34-year-old was included in the Sweden 23 man squad for Euro 2016 but was unable to find the back of the net at the tournament. Sweden were eliminated form the competition after failing to record a victory in the group stages.

Ibrahimovic retired from international football shortly after his side were eliminated.

Mourinho takes charge of his first United game on July 22 against Borussia Dortmund, before taking on local rivals Manchester City on July 25.
