The France international striker Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a move to Arsenal according to The Sun.

Per the source, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to land a star striker this summer in order to bolster his attacking options. The report states that Wenger held a brief talk with Griezmann during Euro 2016 however, Griezmann signed a five year deal earlier this summer which means Arsenal may have to activate his £85.5 million release clause.

“Arsene is willing to spend on a striker this summer, but only for the right man,” An Arsenal insider told the Sun.

“He has his targets and players he thinks will improve the squad, but this could go down to the wire.”

Wenger is also understood to be lining up Lyon’s 25-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette as an alternative. The Sun also state that Arsenal are also looking to strengthen their defence and have been linked with the German international Shkodran Mustafi.

Griezmann provided seven assists and scored 32 goals in 54 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season.
