(Video) Jamie Vardy viciously punches himself in the face after missing sitter as Leicester City toil at Hull City

Leicester City got the defence of their Premier League crown underway on Saturday, but it wasn’t a great opening 45 minutes for Jamie Vardy.

The 29-year-old’s goals were crucial to Leicester’s success last season, and after scoring in the Community Shield game last weekend, it appeared as though he was ready to pick up from where he left off.

However, after missing a couple of chances in the first half at Hull City, he was left furious with himself on this one in particular as he blasted an effort high over the bar when he really should have done better.

Ahmed Musa on the other hand enjoyed an impressive first half in a Foxes shirt, and it was a shame that his fine work in the build up wasn’t finished off by his new team-mate.

As he continues to protect his wrist injury, Vardy may well have done himself some more damage with this vicious right hook on his own chin.

His misery was further compounded when the hosts took the lead on the stroke of half-time, with the defending champions now having to fight back from behind to avoid a losing start to the new campaign.
