(Video) BBC pundit left speechless over talk of John Terry return in Big Sam’s England

Robbie Savage has revealed his confusion over why Sam Allardyce would want to bring John Terry back into the England squad.

According to The Mirror, the Chelsea captain has in fact turned down the opportunity to return to the national team, but the speculation did raise the question as to whether or not it’s a smart move from the new England boss.

Terry turns 36 later this year, and although he continues to prove that he can still perform at a high level with his performances so far this season, there are question marks over whether or not he should be back in the England fold.

Having started all three Premier League games and led Chelsea to three victories, it’s clear as to why some would want to see the defensive stalwart back involved given his form and health, and Savage certainly acknowledges that.

However, with the World Cup two years away, Savage has questioned the sense in bringing Terry back in terms of the long-term plan and how it would help England moving forward.

The debate seems to be over for now as although there has been no official dismissal, it doesn’t look like the Chelsea legend will entertain the idea.

Nevertheless, should further fuel be added to the fire, the question remains as to whether or not his experience and leadership in the England camp would trump denying younger players the opportunity to continue to make the spot their own.
