Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has thanked the fans for the support they have shown him support following his injury.

Mkhitaryan was taken off in the 38th minute on Wednesday night with a thigh problem in his left leg.

And the Armenian FA have today released a statement on the injury.

The statement read: “As reported, senior national team captain Henrikh Mkhitaryan received an injury against Czech Republic and as a result was unable to continue the match.

“Mkhitaryan has had a medical examination in a clinic in Mlada Boleslav. Unfortunately, the results are not encouraging.

“Mkhitaryan was found to have an injury in the lower third of the left thigh muscle. Such injuries usually require a week to 10 days to heal, which means that Mkhitaryan will miss the Denmark-Armenia match on September 4th.”

Mkhitaryan revealed yesterday that he may miss the derby against United on Saturday due to injury.

The attacking midfielder sent out a tweet with a picture of himself in a United shirt alongside a caption which raised doubts over his fitness going into the all Manchester clash.

The Armenian international has yet to start in any of his first four appearances for the Red Devils, coming off the bench in wins over Leicester City, Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City.

Mkhitaryan joined United on a £26.3 million move from Germany giants Borussia Dortmund over the summer according to the Manchester Evening News.
