Manchester United fans can breath a sigh of relief as it has emerged that the injury Henrikh Mkhitaryan suffered during international duty is not serious.

According to the Armenian outlet News AM, Mkhitaryan’s injury was not serious and only was substituted off as a precaution.

The 27-year-old was forced off the field after just 38 minutes during Armenia’s clash with the Czech Republic on Tuesday night. Mkhitaryan collided with defender Marek Suchy and appeared to be injured.

It was a heart-in-mouth moment for United fans who feared their new transfer could miss the Manchester derby on September 10. Manchester United host City at Old Trafford this weekend in the season’s first high-profile derby.

The Citizens come into Saturday’s derby with a perfect record but will be without their star striker Sergio Aguero after the FA suspended him for violent conduct. United have also made a perfect start to their season under Jose Mourinho.
