Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hails “great performance” following 4-1 win over Leicester

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on his team following their 4-1 victory over last season’s Premier League champions Leicester City.

The German tactician spoke to the BBC after the game, stating that he was pleased with his players performances. The Reds were a goal up after just 15 minute when Roberto Firmino found the back of the net and looked to be on course for a comfortable win when when Sadio Mane made it 2-0 shortly after.

However, Leicester City were gifted a goal following an error by Lucas Leiva. Liverpool managed to weather the storm and secured all three points when Adam Lallana and Firmino scored in the second half.

“At the end it was a great performance over 90 minutes. I thought it was a good challenge for us today because I know we can be really strong,” Klopp told the BBC.

“If something does not work we have to show we can stay in the race, and believe in our style. We played calm football, but we can’t create with each pass, each movement.

“Leicester have big quality, are always a threat, even after we scored our third. It was a good performance in a wonderful place.”

Liverpool go into next weekend’s clash with Chelsea in high spirits. The Blues are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after being held to a 2-2 draw by Swansea City.
