Man United star Luke Shaw baffled by Jose Mourinho’s criticism

Manchester United’s star left-back Luke Shaw has been left baffled after being criticised by his manager Jose Mourinho, according to the Guardian.

Per-the-source, the England international is confused after Mourinho publicly criticised him and Chris Smalling for pulling out of the Swansea match due to being unfit.

“Smalling doesn’t feel that he can play 100% with his pain, Luke Shaw told me this morning that he was not in the condition to play, so we had to build a defensive line,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

“There is a difference between the brave, who want to be there at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make a difference.

“If I were to speak with the many great football people of this team, they will say many times they played without being 100%.

For the team you have to do anything, that is my way of seeing [things]. Of course, it is not just the players, it is the players and the people that surround the players.”

However, the report goes onto state that Shaw is understood to have suffered a problem in the same leg he broke in two places last September.

This caused the former Southampton man to declare himself unfit for the match three days later at the Liberty Stadium.

Mourinho’s criticism came somewhat as a shock seeing that United recorded a 3-1 victory over Swansea City on Sunday. The Red Devils returned to winning ways after bing held to a draw by Burnley last week and suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Fenerbahce on Thursday.

Man United face Arsenal in their next Premier League clash on November 19.
