Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been put in an uncomfortable position by the media on Tuesday, with claims that he was flirting with Gemma Atkinson at the Sports Personality of the Year awards afterparty.
According to The Mirror, the 43-year-old was seen ‘getting cosy’ with the Emmerdale star on Sunday, with a source revealing that she “didn’t leave his side”.
Given his history after cheating on wife Stacey Cooke, and her past after dating Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Bent, as noted in the report, many have put two and two together and suggested that something was going on between the pair.
However, it’s also added that Atkinson is a United fan and has previously named Giggs as her favourite player so perhaps there’s a more innocent explanation.
Don’t let that get in the way of a good story though, as Giggsy clearly enjoys a flirt with The Mirror adding that he eventually split with Cooke after affairs with Imogen Thomas and his brother’s wife Natasha after he was caught out flirting with waitresses at the restaurant he owns in May.
As a result, it probably isn’t that hard to believe that things did seem a little cosy between him and Atkinson, but only those two will know if it was anything beyond two professionals having a chit-chat.
