Sky Sports pundit picks Premier League team of season so far: Chelsea dominate, Arsenal talisman and Liverpool ace get nod

As well as fellow Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has also selected his Premier League team of the season so far.

For the most part, it’s as you would expect with a Chelsea theme running through the XI with stand-out performer Cesar Azpilicueta included.

David Luiz also gets in as despite facing so many doubts and questions when he rejoined the club in the summer, the Brazilian international has fitted into Antonio Conte’s three-man defence really well and deserves the recognition.

Premier League top goalscorer Diego Costa is joined by fellow reinvigorated teammate Eden Hazard, while midfield general N’Golo Kante has been quietly superb since his arrival from Leicester City and also gets the nod.

Alexis Sanchez rightfully starts up front with the Arsenal forward notching 12 goals and seven assists in 17 Premier League games so far this season, while Adam Lallana and Kevin De Bruyne have been in great form for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively.

Beyond that, Carragher has moved away from the traditional big clubs with Southampton pair Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Bertrand starting in defence while Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is the man between the posts after impressing despite his side’s struggles so far this season.

As with any ‘team of the week’ or otherwise, there will be arguments for those left out and against some of those included. Nevertheless, it looks as though Carragher has done a pretty decent job with the XI below which can be seen alongside’s Neville’s choices.
