Arsenal strike target responds to Gunners alleged £56m bid

Andrea Belotti has insisted we won’t let transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal affect his game.

Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachli claimed that Arsenal had bid £56m for the striker over the weekend, despite denials from the North London club.

And the 23 year old has responded to the rumours, in quotes printed in today’s Daily Mirror.

“I have to continue like this, I cannot let it go to my head. I always have to work, I hope to play a good 2017 to conquer my dreams.”

It’s a modest response from a player who has been a revelation in Serie A this term, and is already being piled with pressure to be the great white hope of Italian football. With 14 goals in 19 appearances, he’s certainly fulfilling his potential so far.

As for the bid from Arsenal – it seems odd that Petrachli would make it up out of thin air, as it only serves to distract the player. More likely is that the Gunners have been sniffing around the striker, causing the sporting director to warn them off as he did – claiming that a seriously big offer had been made and subsequently rejected.
