Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez eyes summer move for £15M-rated Swansea star who has been involved in 19 goals this season

Newcastle are interested in signing Swansea City talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer transfer window, report The Sun.

In 29 appearances this term, Sigurdsson has been directly involved in 19 goals, having found the back of the net eight times and providing 11 assists for his Swans teammates. That equates to a goal contribution every 132 minutes in the Premier League this season. His good performances appear to have captured the attention of Rafa Benitez.

The Sun report that Championship leaders Newcastle are keen to add Sigurdsson to their ranks in the summer as they look to reestablish themselves as a Premier League side.

Despite Swansea’s revival since Paul Clement took the reins at the club, they are still in serious danger of being relegated from the Premier League. Newcastle, on the other hand, look dead-certs to be promoted back to England’s top tier.

The Sun report that Sigurdsson could leave the Swans for a fee in the region of £15million.
