Odds slashed on Chelsea’s Antonio Conte being next Premier League manager sacking after Roma thrashing

It’s not looking good for Conte.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is now up to third in the running for the next Premier League manager sacking after seeing odds on his departure tumble significantly.

The Italian tactician had a miserable night yesterday as the Blues were beaten 3-0 by Roma in the Champions League, with Thibaut Courtois even commenting afterwards that something has changed in the squad since last season’s successes.

With Chelsea already looking like being out of the title race, Conte needs things to go a little better in Europe, but they were distinctly second best against Roma and his future now looks to be in serious jeopardy.

Having been 20/1 as the next Premier League manager sacking before last night’s game, Ladbrokes have now slashed that to just 7/1, putting him third behind Sean Dyche (1/2) and Slaven Bilic (5/2) respectively.

It should be noted that Dyche’s odds of 1/2 to leave his position are not due to the danger of the sack, but because he could be snapped up by Everton, with Sky Sports reporting their interest in hiring the Burnley boss to replace Ronald Koeman.

That means in terms of actually being shown the door by his club, Conte is just second behind West Ham’s Slaven Bilic in the running with Ladbrokes at the moment.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘Something isn’t quite working at Chelsea this year and the latest odds are strongly suggesting Conte will pay the price in the near future.’

The Times reported last month that Conte would likely leave Chelsea at the end of the season, but it looks increasingly like he may not even last that long, as per other rumours from Yahoo Sport.
