Liverpool are preparing for an important clash with Chelsea this weekend, and Jurgen Klopp has seemingly received a fitness boost from Joel Matip.
The 26-year-old has missed the last two games for the Reds with a thigh problem, and while it didn’t cost Liverpool in their 3-0 win over Southampton, his absence was arguably felt at Sevilla.
Klopp’s men squandered a 3-0 lead in the second-half in Spain, and Matip’s leadership and presence in the backline could have arguably made a difference.
Particularly given Liverpool had improved defensively after their disappointing result at Tottenham last month, having Matip back available for selection will be a major boost for Klopp this weekend.
That’s what is reportedly coming his way, as per The Express and the images shared below from Liverpool, with Matip likely to replace Ragnar Klavan, while it’s added that Adam Lallana could make a return to action, which will be music to the ears of Liverpool fans who have missed his quality in the final third this season.
A win could move Liverpool back into the top four, but for a side that has conceded 17 goals in 12 league games, they’ll have to continue to keep it tight at the back with Matip potentially helping the cause.
