Manager provides update on Chelsea transfer target amid links with £100million transfer to Stamford Bridge

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has ruled out the prospect of Mauro Icardi leaving for a transfer to Chelsea or any other club amid rumours of a possible £100million bid from the Premier League champions.

According to the Sun, the Blues are considering launching a huge offer for the in-form Argentina international, who has hit 13 goals in 13 games in Serie A this season.

This seems a little surprising given the fine form of summer signing Alvaro Morata up front this season, while Eden Hazard has increasingly been used in a central role alongside the Spaniard as well.

Still, it may not matter either way as Inter clearly don’t sound keen on selling their star player as they chase their first Serie A title since 2009/10.

Icardi’s fine form has helped Inter go top of the Italian top flight, so Spalletti will be understandably keen to knock back any offers that do come in for such an important player.

‘Who does not want Icardi?’ Spalletti is quoted in the Sun.

‘I love him at Inter and when I talk to him I can sense that the city, his team-mates, the club, the fans are all things to which he is strongly attached.

‘I am convinced he can stay at Inter forever.’

The Sun also mentions Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as possible suitors for the prolific South American.
