Premier League manager plotting January transfer raids on Liverpool and Manchester United

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is reportedly plotting January transfer window raids on Liverpool and Manchester United as he lines up loan moves for Danny Ings and Luke Shaw.

The Magpies have struggled so far this season and look in need of strengthening this winter, with the Daily Star claiming those two players are at the forefront of Benitez’s plans.

Neither player is currently a regular with their respective club, but have shown enough potential to suggest they could improve and do a job for a team like Newcastle.

Benitez could be about to enjoy a cash boost as the club near a £300million takeover by Amanda Staveley, so those two players may not be the only ones coming in in the middle of the season.

Once one of the biggest names in the Premier League, Newcastle would dearly love to be challenging for a European place again and should still be able to lure big names to St James’ Park.

Ings and Shaw would represent a good start by the club if they can pull both moves off, and both players will be desperate to get regular minutes under their belt as they bid to make England’s World Cup squad for next summer.
