Liverpool are set to rival fellow Merseysider club Everton in the race to sign Charlton Athletic youngster Ezri Konsa, who the London club are ready to sell for at least £5M.
This is according to the Mirror, who are reporting that Charlton will be willing to depart with England U20’s star for the minimum price of £5M, and that both Liverpool and Everton are keen on signing the defender.
The news outlet are also stating that the Toffees are ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side in the race to sign the player, and that Everton scout Martyn Glover was sent to see Konsa in action against Blackburn in December.
Speaking about Konsa, Charlton boss Karl Robinson said ““If I was him I’d be looking to go in January but we should look for £5m minimum”
Despite only being the young age of 20, youngster Konsa has already had a fairly decent career to date.
The player has been able to make an impressive 69 appearances in all competitions for the Addicks, bagging one assist in that time period.
Konsa also played a part in England U20’s World Cup win this past summer, with the player making one appearance in the competition, as the young Three Lions beat Venezuela 1-0 in the final.
Both sides have raided Charlton for young talent in the past, with Everton picking up winger Ademola Lookman, with defender Joe Gomez heading to Anfield as well.

Should both sides be serious about Konsa, i’ll be interesting to see which side of Merseyside is able to prise the defender away from south-east London.
