Aside from playing a key role in France’s win over Croatia in the World Cup final on Sunday, Paul Pogba also simultaneously created a bit of Man Utd history.
The 25-year-old was in fine form throughout the tournament this summer in Russia, acting as a driving force for the French in midfield and proving to be a decisive figure at times with his creative quality.

He bagged a goal in the win over Croatia to help France to a 4-2 victory in the final, and in turn he can now add World Cup winner to his growing list of achievements and honours.
However, as seen in the tweet below from OptaJoe, the French international also wrote his name into Man Utd folklore too as he surprisingly became the first ever player for the club to score in a World Cup final.
Given some of the illustrious names that have played for the Red Devils over the years, it’s a surprise that no-one has achieved it before Pogba, but the often-criticised midfield ace will now have that to boast too.
For Man Utd fans though, they’ll undoubtedly be hoping that the Frenchman can use the summer as a platform to now kick on at club level too, in terms of becoming a real leader for Jose Mourinho’s side and consistently delivering to continue to establish himself as one of the top midfielders in Europe.
Having finished empty-handed at the end of last season, the pressure will be on those at Old Trafford to deliver this time round. A confident and in-form Pogba with a prominent role under Mourinho could prove to be crucial in ensuring that happens.
