Maurizio Sarri ready to sanction Chelsea star’s transfer and pay record-breaking fee to replace him

New Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly prepared to sell Thibaut Courtois this summer as long as the club bring in Roma goalkeeper Alisson as his replacement.

According to Sky Sport Italia, as translated by the Metro, Chelsea are braced to pay a world-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper to Roma for Alisson, likely to be in the region of £62million.

This seems money worth paying for the Blues, who would urgently need to bring in a top class ‘keeper to replace an important player like Courtois.

It’s been reported by HLN that the Belgium international is in advanced talks over a move to Real Madrid, which has seemed on the cards for some time as the player has stalled on signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois’ current contract is due to expire at the end of next season, so it would make sense for Chelsea to cash in on him now and avoid losing him on a free transfer.

That could also help CFC find the cash to pay up for Alisson, who many would surely feel would be more than a good enough replacement as number one at the club.

As noted by the Metro, Manchester City paid £35m for Ederson last summer in what is the current world-record fee for a goalkeeper, and he proved more than worth it with a key role in the club’s Premier League title win.
