Chelsea cleared to seal £62million transfer after major development at Liverpool

Liverpool’s summer transfer window spending will reportedly end with the £67million signing of Roma goalkeeper Alisson, meaning no move for Nabil Fekir.

This is according to the Daily Mirror, a move for the Lyon attacking midfielder now looks highly unlikely, with manager Jurgen Klopp said to be happy with the club’s work in the transfer market.

And so he should be, with the incoming signing of Alisson a huge statement as the Reds look to emerge as major challengers to Manchester City for next season’s Premier League title.

Liverpool reached the Champions League final last season and showed huge promise, and have since then added some big names to their squad.

Fabinho and Naby Keita have come in in midfield, while Xherdan Shaqiri is a useful addition as a squad player in attacking midfield.

Nabil Fekir transfer boost for Chelsea

Nabil Fekir no longer likely to seal Liverpool transfer in major boost for Chelsea

It is easy to see why Fekir may no longer be seen as an urgent priority for LFC, and in fact he has now been linked with rivals Chelsea instead.

Liverpool ending their interest can only be good news for the Blues, who have been linked by Sport with an interest in the France international as a replacement for Real Madrid target Eden Hazard.

That report suggests Fekir would cost £62million, which could end up being a bargain for one of the top attacking players in Europe last season, particularly when it would likely be a fraction of what they’d sell Hazard for.

The Daily Star suggest Hazard could cost Real Madrid as much as £200m.
