Chelsea send clear message to Real Madrid over Eden Hazard transfer

Chelsea have reportedly told Real Madrid that they will not buckle over the future of Eden Hazard in this summer’s transfer window.

The Daily Mirror claims the Blues are eager not to be bullied by the Spanish giants as they fight to keep hold of their star forward ahead of the new season.

Hazard’s future has been the subject of much speculation for some time, with Le 10 Sport even reporting recently that a deal had been agreed for the Belgium international to move to the Bernabeu.

It seems, however, that that claim may have been somewhat premature, as Chelsea look determined not to lose Hazard in what looks a vital summer for them.

Having replaced Antonio Conte with Maurizio Sarri, CFC now urgently need to rebuild and put themselves in a strong position to get back into the top four next season.

The west London giants are currently without Champions League football for the upcoming campaign, and would do well to avoid losing big names like Hazard as replacing them may be all the more challenging without competing at Europe’s top table.

Still, it’s worth remembering that Chelsea have generally not been a selling club under Roman Abramovich and if they do not feel under too much pressure to sell Hazard then there’s every chance they will make a statement by keeping the 27-year-old.
