Barcelona suffer transfer setback as £55m+ bid turned down for attacking ace

Barcelona are reportedly struggling to convince Chelsea to sell Willian as it’s claimed that a third bid worth £55m+ has been snubbed by the Premier League giants.

The Catalan giants are coming off the back of a season in which they secured a domestic double, and coupled with the attacking options at Ernesto Valverde’s disposal already, it doesn’t appear as though more is needed in that department.

The Spanish tactician already has Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho as options in the final third, but he is seemingly keen to see Willian arrive at the Nou Camp to offer a different dynamic with his direct running, pace and creativity.

According to Sky Sports though, as per their tweet below, Barcelona have seen a £55m+ bid rejected by Chelsea as the Blues seemingly remain unconvinced about selling their Brazilian winger.

The 29-year-old scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 appearances in all competitions last season, while he was a key figure for Tite at the World Cup this past summer.

In turn, it’s evident as to why he’s attracting interest, but ultimately it would seem as though Barcelona have yet to make a satisfactory offer to convince Chelsea to sell.

Nevertheless, given his inconsistency and the fact that he will turn 30 next month, that is a lot of money for a player at the wrong end of his career, regardless of whether or not he can make an instant impact.

Having signed Clement Lenglet (23) and Arthur (21) so far this summer, adding Willian would seemingly be a departure from planning for the long-term future at Barcelona, but it remains to be seen if the Spanish giants are able to reach an agreement with Chelsea on a fee before talks can progress any further.
