Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward disagree over potential £60million transfer

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and executive vice-president Ed Woodward are reportedly at odds over the future of Anthony Martial in this transfer window.

The France international is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich after struggling at Old Trafford last season.

Despite this, however, ESPN claim that while Mourinho is prepared to let Martial go this summer, Woodward is more cautious about losing the youngster as he could blossom into a top talent elsewhere.

The 22-year-old clearly has potential and has shown glimpses of his immense talent in his time at United, but perhaps doesn’t seem an ideal fit for a conservative manager like Jose Mourinho.

It is little wonder, however, that ESPN links so many top clubs as admirers of the player, who could go down a similar route to other prospects discarded by Mourinho in recent times.

Despite having top talent like Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah on his books during his time in charge of Chelsea, Mourinho didn’t give chances to either of them and they ended up becoming world class stars for the Blues’ major rivals.

Martial certainly seems to have that potential, so it remains to be seen how Mourinho and Woodward can resolve this.

Another report from the Express claims the former Monaco starlet can leave the club, but only for £60million and not to a Premier League rival.
