€100m-rated midfield maestro to snub Chelsea, could sign new contract instead

Chelsea are reportedly set to see their interest in Juventus ace Miralem Pjanic rejected, with the midfielder tipped to potentially even sign a new contract with the Turin giants.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure for the Bianconeri since joining them from rivals Roma in 2016, playing a key role in back-to-back Serie A title wins and Coppa Italia triumphs.

In turn, as a valued member of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, they would seemingly be keen to keep him and as per Calciomercato, the Italian champions have been handed a boost as it’s claimed that Pjanic will snub Chelsea’s advances while it’s unclear if his valuation would even be met given he has a €100m price-tag.

It’s easy to see why Maurizio Sarri would want him at Stamford Bridge though, as the Italian tactician begins the process of transforming Chelsea’s style of play and stamping his mark on the squad that he inherited from Antonio Conte earlier this month.

The former Napoli boss has built a reputation of playing expansive football with high pressing and a quick tempo to the play, and given Pjanic’s technical quality, vision, creativity and ability to pull the strings in the middle, he could link up particularly well with N’Golo Kante and summer signing Jorginho in a trident.

However, based on the Calciomercato report, unless he is willing to request an exit from Juventus, it’s unlikely that he’ll be moving on and may even extend his stay by signing a new deal.

It is of course an exciting time for the Turin outfit, as after confirming the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer, Pjanic will be a fundamental part of their push to not only sustain their domestic dominance but also to end their long wait for success in Europe.
