Chelsea set £195million asking price for Champions League giants to seal major transfer

Chelsea have reportedly come back to Real Madrid with a £195million asking price in order for them to seal the transfer of Eden Hazard before the end of the summer.

The Belgium international is wanted by the Spanish giants, but that is the kind of price club president Florentino Perez would only consider forking out for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, according to Diario Gol.

There’s no doubt Hazard would make a fine purchase for Real to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after his summer switch to Juventus, but it may be that Chelsea have done enough to put Madrid off pursuing him for the time being.

It remains to be seen if the Blues could end up lowering their demands for Hazard, though with time ticking away for them to replace him, it surely looks increasingly likely now that he’ll remain in west London for this season at least.

Is Eden Hazard going to be too expensive for Real Madrid to prise away from Chelsea?

Still, the 27-year-old has just under two years left on his contract, so Chelsea may only be putting the problem off temporarily, with another transfer saga surely just around the corner if he doesn’t extend his deal.

Chelsea will feel it’s worth keeping hold of one of the finest attacking players in the world even if he is somewhat unsettled and likely to move on soon, with the club looking like getting the former Lille man for most of his peak years.

It’s a concern for Madrid, however, who are yet to sign a big-name attacker following Ronaldo’s exit.
